Originally from Inverurie, I spent 20 years in Aberdeen working in oilfield support and logistics. I moved to Ayr in 1995 to look after my parents and worked initially in logistics and latterly in Museums, Galleries and Historical Research. On retirement in 2017 I returned to Aberdeenshire to be near to family most of who have been in Ellon for many years. I am now very happily settled in Ellon, enjoy my bowling and being able to contribute in many ways to the local community.

I am a 62 year old retired Technical Services Support Manager with 32 year service for a major oil service company. Born in Inverurie, I moved to Ellon 35 years ago and have lived at my present address for 32 years. I am married and have a grown up family who also live and work in Ellon. My interests include walking, travelling, photography, bowling and my caravan which I travel to when I have some spare time. My main aim as a community councillor is to help and serve the people of Ellon in any way I can.

I have lived in the Ellon area all my life, currently at Annand Road.  I have worked on farms, a boarding kennels / cattery, behind a local bar, a drawing office for a local house builder and I now supervise a design and drawing office for an oil company in the Bridge of Don.  I like to think I’m not scared at getting stuck in or giving something new a go.

My main aim on the community council is to visually improve the public areas of Ellon.

Having retired this year has given me more time to put something back into the community. After a busy working life I left my employment with an IT support company of 33 years. Prior to that I worked for a couple of years in Dubai, UAE. Before that spent 12 Years in the Royal Air Force leaving in the rank of Sergeant at RAF Kinloss, Moray. I arrived in Ellon in 1984 and put my roots down here. Joined McDonald golf club in 1986. In 2003 I was elected to the club council, first as Greens Convener then as Match and Handicap convener. Over the coming years there will be some big changes in Ellon with the Local Development Plan. I would like to see changes for the better while retaining the character of Ellon.
